Microsoft Testing Kumo
Microsoft begins retesting their Live Search reconstruction site Kumo.com

Microsoft went into the Live Search reconstruction business last year and is now starting to test the rebranded Kumo.com redesign internally.

Kumo is a codename that surfaced months ago. It's unclear whether it will stick. BoomTown says the word means both spider and cloud in Japanese.

In an e-mail seeking Microsoft testers Satya Nadella, senior VP of R&D for the company's online unit, said search engines leave 40% of queries unanswered and half "are about searchers returning to previous tasks; and 46% of search sessions are longer than 20 minutes," suggesting to Microsoft that folks aren't finding what they're looking for.

"We believe we can provide a better and more useful search experience that helps you not just search but accomplish tasks," he said.

Microsoft is going to test various features in various countries but thinks the results will be organized in a way that saves time.
