TIBCO Releases AJAX-Based Development Solution "General Interface 3.0"
Aimed at Rich Internet Application Design and Deployment

A separate edition of this product is currently in development, Tibco says, for individuals looking to evaluate and build smaller, less critical applications that do not require access to enterprise-level support or professional services. Applications builts with this version will run in Microsoft Internet Explorer with future releases to run in Mozilla Firefox. Developers interested in early access to this edition should contact the company.
The background story to this latest announcement dates to October 2004, when Tibco Software acquired General Interface in "to build on the company's established leadership in service-oriented and real-time infrastructure products," according to Tibco. First brought to market in 2001, General Interface has been used to provide Web applications that have the rich features of desktop installed software, but the lower cost profile of web deployments. TIBCO General Interface has powered applications at Fortune 1000 companies and within the U.S. government for four years.
